The HERTEL 2500215 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built from micrograin solid carbide and coated with TiCN, it delivers extended tool life and heat resistance in demanding cutting environments. The 1/4 inch diameter, 4-flute chipbreaker geometry breaks chips into manageable segments, reducing heat buildup and improving evacuation in deep cuts. With a 1-1/8 inch length of cut and 3 inch overall length, this end mill is suited for standard-reach roughing passes. It is installed and operated by machinists and CNC tooling professionals in job shop and production settings.
This end mill is intended for roughing operations on ferrous and non-ferrous materials where chip control and tool rigidity are priorities. The chipbreaker flute profile reduces cutting forces compared to standard 4-flute end mills, making it effective in harder materials and tougher alloys. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction are compatible with conventional CNC machining centers and manual knee mills. The centercutting design allows plunge entry as well as peripheral milling. Typical applications include roughing pockets, slots, and profiles where material removal rate is the primary objective before a finishing pass.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-application roughing end mill for use in standard 1/4 inch ER collets, end mill holders, and shrink-fit tooling systems on CNC machining centers and manual mills.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and machine is in an e-stop or lockout state before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or holder to the recommended gauge depth and torque the retention nut per the toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect the collet and bore for chips or debris before seating to prevent runout.
