The HERTEL 2417327 is a chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in metal fabrication and machining applications. Built from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish, this reamer delivers accurate final sizing of bored or drilled holes to tight tolerances. The 4 Morse Taper (4MT) shank provides a secure, self-holding connection in compatible spindles and drilling machines. With 8 right-hand spiral flutes and a 1.5000 decimal-inch cutting diameter, it removes minimal stock while producing smooth, consistent hole surfaces. This tool is intended for use by machinists and tool and die professionals working on production or maintenance machining operations.
This chucking reamer is suited for through-hole and blind-hole finishing operations on ferrous and non-ferrous metals in job shop and production environments. The 4MT shank seats directly into drill press spindles, lathes, or boring machines equipped with the corresponding Morse Taper socket. The 3-1/2 inch flute length provides adequate chip clearance for moderate-depth holes, while the 12-1/2 inch overall length allows reach into deeper workpiece setups without adapter extensions.
Designed for use in drill presses, lathes, and boring machines fitted with a 4 Morse Taper (4MT) spindle socket. Intended as a standard chucking reamer for final finishing of 1-1/2 inch nominal diameter holes.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with reaming operations and machine tool safety. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the reamer from the Morse Taper socket. Apply appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and improve surface finish. Feed rates and spindle speeds should follow established machining parameters for HSS reamers at this diameter — do not force the reamer or use it to remove excessive stock.
