The HERTEL 2416220 is a high-speed steel (HSS) chucking reamer designed to size and finish drilled holes to tight tolerances. Built with a 1MT Morse taper shank, it mounts directly in compatible taper-socket spindles or chuck adapters on lathes and drill presses. The reamer measures 11/32 inch (0.3438 inch decimal) in diameter, with a 6-inch overall length and a 1-1/2 inch spiral flute section. Six right-hand spiral flutes provide smooth chip evacuation and a clean bore finish. The bright, uncoated HSS construction suits general-purpose reaming in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Machinists and toolroom technicians are the primary users of this tool.
This chucking reamer is suited for production and toolroom environments where accurate hole finishing is required. Typical applications include sizing holes in metal workpieces on engine lathes, turret lathes, and drill presses equipped with a No. 1 Morse taper spindle. The right-hand cutting direction and right-hand spiral flute geometry work together to produce consistent, repeatable bore diameters in the 0.3000 to 0.3499 inch range. It is appropriate for through-hole and blind-hole reaming where a standard bright-finish HSS tool meets the material and tolerance requirements of the job.
Designed for use in machine spindles and chuck adapters accepting a No. 1 Morse taper (1MT) shank, as found on many engine lathes, turret lathes, and drill presses used in general machining and toolroom applications.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Before mounting or removing the reamer, power down and lock out the machine per applicable lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the Morse taper shank fully and cleanly in the spindle socket, ensuring no chips or debris are present on the taper surfaces, as contamination will cause runout and an oversized bore. Always use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material, and feed at a rate consistent with the machine manufacturer and tooling recommendations to avoid tool deflection or chatter.
