The HERTEL 2416162 is a high-speed steel (HSS) chucking reamer designed to finish-ream holes to a precise Letter E (0.2500 inch) diameter. Built with 6 right-hand spiral flutes and a Morse Taper shank (1MT), it delivers accurate, smooth bore finishes in ferrous and non-ferrous metals. The bright, uncoated finish suits general-purpose reaming where no specialized coating is required. With an overall length of 6 inches and a flute length of 1.5 inches, this reamer is sized for production and maintenance machining in standard drill press, lathe, or CNC applications. Machinists and tool-and-die technicians reach for this style of reamer when tight hole tolerances and clean surface finish are the priority.
This reamer is suited for machine shop, maintenance, and production environments where Letter E diameter holes must be held to close tolerance. Typical applications include finishing drilled or bored holes in steel, cast iron, aluminum, and brass. The Morse Taper shank seats directly into a compatible 1MT spindle or sleeve without the need for a separate chuck, making it a common choice for drill press and lathe turret work where quick, repeatable setups are needed.
Designed for use in any machine spindle or drill press quill fitted with a No. 1 Morse Taper (1MT) socket or a compatible 1MT-to-straight sleeve adapter. Suitable as an OEM-style replacement or direct substitute in applications calling for a 6-flute, right-hand, HSS chucking reamer in Letter E diameter.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before inserting or removing the taper shank. Clean the 1MT socket and taper shank thoroughly before seating to ensure full contact and prevent runout. Do not use a hammer to drive the reamer into the socket; use a proper drawbar or drift pin where applicable, following standard machine tool practices.
