The HERTEL 2412211 is a chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in metalworking applications. Built from cobalt steel with a bright, uncoated finish, this reamer measures 21/64 inches (0.3281 inches decimal) in diameter and runs 6 inches overall in length. The 6-flute spiral geometry cuts right-hand with a straight-cylindrical shank for secure chuck mounting. Cobalt steel construction provides added heat and wear resistance compared to standard high-speed steel, making it well suited for harder workpiece materials. This tool is sized and configured for use in drill presses, lathes, and CNC machining centers where accurate bore sizing is required.
This chucking reamer fits into production and maintenance machining environments where bores must be held to tight tolerances after drilling. The 1.5-inch flute length handles typical through-hole and shallow blind-hole reaming tasks in ferrous and non-ferrous metals. It is a standard-size, standard-configuration reamer — not an over or under size variant and not a dowel pin reamer — making it appropriate for general-purpose bore finishing across a wide range of shop applications. Machinists, tool-and-die workers, and maintenance technicians are the primary users of this tool.
Designed as a general-purpose chucking reamer for use in drill presses, engine lathes, turret lathes, and CNC machining centers equipped with a standard drill chuck or collet capable of accepting a straight-cylindrical shank.
Chucking reamers are installed and operated by machinists and tool-and-die technicians. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before mounting or removing the tool. Secure the straight shank firmly in the chuck or collet before operation, and confirm runout is within acceptable limits to avoid bell-mouthing the bore. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and improve surface finish.
