The HERTEL 2410645 is a high-speed steel chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in metalworking applications. With a 1-inch diameter, 8 spiral flutes, and a bright uncoated HSS construction, this reamer delivers accurate, smooth bores in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The straight-cylindrical shank mounts directly in standard drill chucks or collet holders. Overall length is 10.5 inches with a flute length of 2.75 inches, making it well suited for moderate-depth reaming operations. Right-hand cutting direction with left-hand spiral flutes provides efficient chip evacuation and reduces chatter during the cut. Machinists, tool and die makers, and maintenance technicians rely on this style of reamer for tight-tolerance bore sizing.
This chucking reamer is used in machine shop, production, and maintenance environments where finished bore diameter must meet close tolerances. It is driven by a lathe tailstock, drill press, or CNC machining center. The straight-cylindrical shank allows quick mounting in a standard chuck without the need for a taper adapter. Typical applications include finishing drilled or bored holes in steel, cast iron, aluminum, and similar machinable materials where surface finish and dimensional accuracy are required.
Designed as a standard chucking reamer for use in lathes, drill presses, and CNC machining centers equipped with a drill chuck or collet holder accepting a straight-cylindrical shank of 1-inch diameter.
Installation and operation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the workpiece is securely fixtured before mounting or removing the reamer. Verify chuck or collet runout before use, as excessive runout will degrade bore finish and dimensional accuracy. Apply appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and improve surface finish.
