The HERTEL 2410488 is a high-speed steel (HSS) chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in metalworking applications. With a 3/4 inch diameter and an 8-flute spiral configuration, this reamer delivers smooth, accurate bores in through-holes and blind holes alike. The straight-cylindrical shank allows direct mounting in standard drill chucks, collet chucks, or floating reamer holders. At 9-1/2 inches overall length (OAL) with a 2-1/2 inch flute length, it provides the reach needed for moderate-depth finishing operations. The bright, uncoated finish suits general-purpose ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Right-hand cutting direction pairs with left-hand spiral flutes for improved surface finish and chip evacuation.
This chucking reamer is suited for machine shop, maintenance, and production environments where final bore sizing to 0.7500 inches is required. Typical applications include finishing drilled or bored holes in steel, cast iron, aluminum, and brass components. It is installed in CNC machining centers, knee mills, drill presses, and turret lathes. Licensed machinists and tool-and-die professionals use this style of reamer where tight hole tolerances and surface finish requirements must be met after a roughing operation.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use chucking reamer for machine tools accepting straight-cylindrical shank tooling in the 3/4 inch diameter range.
Chucking reamers should be installed by qualified machinists following standard toolroom practices. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before mounting or removing the reamer. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in a drill chuck or collet to the appropriate runout tolerance — excessive runout will cause chatter and oversize bores. Always apply a suitable cutting fluid matched to the workpiece material, and feed at recommended reaming rates to avoid tool deflection or bore bell-mouthing.
