The HERTEL 2410363 is a 6-flute high-speed steel (HSS) chucking reamer designed to finish-ream drilled or bored holes to precise dimensional tolerances. Built on a straight-cylindrical shank, this reamer seats securely in drill chucks, collet chucks, and floating holders. The spiral flute geometry with a left-hand spiral and right-hand cutting direction improves chip evacuation and reduces chatter on through-holes. At 9/16 inch (0.5625 inch) diameter with a 2-inch flute length and 8-inch overall length, it handles typical depth requirements in both manual and CNC machine tool operations. The bright, uncoated finish is standard for HSS reamers used in general-purpose ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Machinists and tool-and-die tradespeople are the primary users.
This chucking reamer is suited for finishing operations on through-holes and blind holes in machine shop, maintenance, and production environments. It works in vertical mills, drill presses, lathes, and CNC machining centers where a floating reamer holder or rigid setup is used to guide the tool. The 9/16 inch diameter range is common in structural, mechanical assembly, and general metalworking applications where a finish-reamed hole is required for close-tolerance pin, shaft, or fastener fits.
Designed as a standard straight-shank chucking reamer for use in drill presses, vertical mills, lathes, and CNC machining centers equipped with drill chucks or collet holders accepting a straight-cylindrical shank.
Chucking reamers are installed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine before inserting or removing the reamer from its holder. Use a floating reamer holder where possible to compensate for minor spindle misalignment and avoid bell-mouthing the hole. Always apply appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material, and never run a reamer in reverse as it will dull the cutting edges.
