The HERTEL 2387413 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-volume drilling in metal, wood, and plastic. Built from high-speed steel (HSS) with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, it delivers extended tool life and reduced friction in production environments. The split point geometry at 135 degrees starts on contact without a center punch, reducing walking and improving hole accuracy. At 2-1/16 inches overall length, this stub-style bit fits compact drill heads and turret setups where standard-length bits would interfere. Licensed tradespeople and machinists use this bit in CNC lathes, screw machines, and drill presses.
This bit is sized at wire gauge 24, equal to 0.1520 inch decimal diameter, and falls within the 0.1500 to 0.2000 inch drill bit size range. It is well suited for repetitive hole operations in light manufacturing, sheet metal work, and general machine shop applications. The straight cylindrical shank fits standard keyless or keyed chucks without adapters. The shorter flute length of 1 inch keeps the bit rigid under feed pressure, which is an advantage in high-cycle drilling where deflection causes premature wear or out-of-round holes.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct substitute for wire gauge size 24 screw machine length drill bits used in CNC screw machines, turret lathes, and production drill presses with standard straight-shank chuck systems.
Installation and use of this bit should be performed by machinists or trade professionals familiar with machine tool operation and applicable shop safety standards. Secure the shank fully in the chuck and verify runout before beginning a production run. Power down and de-energize the machine before changing tooling. Do not exceed the recommended feed and speed range for the workpiece material, as TiN-coated HSS bits are not rated for dry cutting in hardened steels above their design range.
