The HERTEL 2387330 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-throughput drilling in metal, wood, and plastic. Built from high-speed steel (HSS) with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, it delivers extended tool life and reduced friction in production and maintenance drilling applications. The 135-degree split point promotes fast penetration and self-centering without a center punch. At 2-3/16 inches overall length with a 1-1/8 inch flute length, this stub-length bit offers increased rigidity and reduced deflection compared to jobber-length equivalents. Web-thinned construction with a parallel web and regular spiral flute geometry supports efficient chip evacuation. Installed by machinists, maintenance technicians, and millwrights.
The 2387330 is suited for screw machine work, CNC drilling operations, and general production environments where short, rigid tooling reduces chatter and improves hole accuracy. The straight-cylindrical shank at 0.1770 inches diameter fits standard drill chucks and collet holders. Wire size 16 (0.1770 inches decimal) positions it in the 0.1500 to 0.2000 inch drill size range, making it a practical choice for clearance holes, tap drilling, and close-tolerance work on the shop floor or in the field.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit screw machine drill bit for use in standard drill chucks and collet holders accepting a 0.1770-inch straight-cylindrical shank across a range of drill presses, lathes, and CNC machining centers.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or maintenance technicians familiar with rotating cutting tools. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet before operation and verify runout before beginning a cut. Always wear appropriate eye protection and follow applicable workplace safety standards. Ensure spindle speed is appropriate for the material being drilled to avoid overheating the coating or dulling the cutting edge prematurely.
