The HERTEL 2386175 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for fast, accurate hole-making in metal and general-purpose materials. Built from high-speed steel with an oxide finish for added wear resistance, this bit features a 135-degree split point that reduces walking and cutting torque at entry. The web-thinned, parallel-web construction supports clean starts without a center punch in most applications. At 2.25 inches overall length, the shortened flute and body profile are optimized for use in turret lathes, screw machines, and CNC drilling operations where rigidity and chip clearance matter.
Screw machine length drill bits like the HERTEL 2386175 are standard issue for production drilling in metal fabrication shops, machine shops, and automated screw machine setups. The compact overall length reduces deflection compared to jobber-length bits, making it well suited for tight-tolerance bores in steel, aluminum, brass, and similar workpiece materials. The right-hand spiral flute and straight cylindrical shank allow direct chuck mounting in standard drill chucks and collet holders.
Designed for use in screw machines, turret lathes, CNC machining centers, and manual drill presses that accept straight cylindrical shank tooling in the 0.1500 to 0.2000 inch decimal inch size range.
Installation is performed by machinists and toolroom technicians. Secure the shank fully into the chuck or collet before operation and verify runout before beginning production runs. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing tooling. Do not exceed the recommended feed and speed parameters for the workpiece material and machine setup.
