The HERTEL 2350544 is a chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in metal and similar materials. Built from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish, it delivers accurate sizing in production and maintenance machining environments. The reamer measures 0.8438 inches (27/32 inches) in diameter with an overall length of 9.5 inches and a flute length of 2.5 inches. Eight right-hand spiral flutes promote smooth chip evacuation and consistent surface finish. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill press chucks, CNC collets, and machine tool holders. Machinists and tool-and-die workers reach for this reamer when a drilled hole needs to be brought to a close-tolerance final diameter.
This reamer is suited for through-hole and blind-hole finishing operations on lathes, drill presses, and machining centers. It is a standard-size, non-dowel-pin, non-over-under-size reamer, meaning it cuts to the nominal 27/32-inch diameter without intentional offset. Typical applications include finishing bearing bores, bushing seats, and precision-fit holes in ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces. The HSS construction handles a wide range of cutting speeds and is compatible with most cutting fluids used in general machine shop practice.
Designed as a standard chucking reamer for use in drill presses, lathes, and CNC machining centers equipped with chucks or collet systems that accept a straight-cylindrical shank in the 27/32-inch diameter range.
Chucking reamers are installed by licensed machinists or qualified shop personnel. Secure the straight shank firmly in the chuck or collet before operation and verify runout with a dial indicator before cutting. Always apply appropriate cutting fluid to extend tool life and improve surface finish. Reduce spindle speed relative to drilling — reaming typically runs at 25 to 50 percent of the drilling speed for the same material — and never reverse a reamer in a hole, as this dulls the cutting edges.
