The HERTEL 22IRN60HG225TR is a laydown threading insert designed for internal threading operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured from solid carbide with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating, this insert delivers heat resistance and wear life suited for threading ferrous and non-ferrous materials. It produces a right-hand, partial-profile 60-degree thread form and covers a range of 7 to 5 threads per inch, corresponding to a metric pitch range of 3.50 to 5.00 mm. The inscribed circle measures 1/2 inch (0.5000 inch decimal) and the insert thickness is 0.187 inches. Machinists and CNC operators working in production threading applications install this insert in compatible 22IR-style toolholders.
This insert is suited for internal threading on both manual and CNC turning equipment in job shop, production, and maintenance machining environments. The 60-degree partial profile makes it usable across a range of standard thread forms including Unified (UN), UNC, UNF, and metric coarse within the stated pitch range. It is packaged individually but carries a minimum order quantity of 10 pieces per order, making it appropriate for shop stock replenishment or production runs requiring consistent tooling.
Designed for use in 22IR-style internal threading toolholders. Verify toolholder seat geometry and clamping configuration before installation. Specific machine or toolholder model compatibility should be confirmed against the toolholder manufacturer's insert specification chart.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use a calibrated torque wrench and the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque for the clamp screw to avoid seat damage or insert fracture. Inspect the toolholder pocket and clamp for chips or wear before seating the new insert.
