The HERTEL 2298404 is a straight-flute chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in metal fabrication and machining operations. It cuts at 24.00mm (0.9449 inches) diameter with a right-hand cutting direction, making it suitable for enlarging and smoothing pre-drilled or bored holes to tight tolerances. Constructed from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish, this reamer handles a range of ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials. The straight-cylindrical shank seats directly into standard drill chucks or collet holders. At 10 inches overall length with a 2-5/8 inch flute length, it fits most vertical mills, drill presses, and CNC machining centers used in tool-and-die, maintenance, and production work.
This chucking reamer is used in shop environments where hole diameter and finish quality are critical, including fixture fabrication, bearing-bore preparation, and close-tolerance assembly work. The 24.00mm diameter falls within the 20.00mm to 30.00mm reamer range, making it a practical selection for metric-dimensioned parts common in automotive, aerospace, and general industrial manufacturing. It is a standard production reamer installed by machinists and tool-and-die technicians using a drill press, manual mill, or CNC turning and milling equipment.
Designed as an OEM-style chucking reamer for use in drill chucks, collet holders, and floating reamer holders on drill presses, knee mills, and CNC machining centers accepting a straight-cylindrical shank.
A licensed machinist or qualified tool operator should install and operate chucking reamers. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before mounting or removing the tool from the chuck or collet. Ensure the workpiece is rigidly clamped and the pre-drilled hole is within the recommended stock allowance for reaming before engaging the spindle. Always use appropriate cutting fluid to extend tool life and achieve the intended surface finish.
