The HERTEL 2297901 is a straight-flute chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in machined components. Built from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish, this reamer delivers accurate sizing to 19.00mm (0.7480 inches) in a wide range of metals and engineering materials. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard machine chucks or collets, and the right-hand cutting direction suits conventional drilling and boring setups. With 8 flutes and a 2.25-inch flute length, the tool provides smooth chip evacuation and consistent surface finish. Overall length is 9 inches, making it suitable for machine tool spindles in production and job-shop environments. Installed by machinists and tool-and-die professionals.
This reamer is applied in CNC machining centers, manual lathes, drill presses, and boring mills where a previously drilled or bored hole requires final sizing to a tight tolerance. The 19.00mm diameter places it in the 0.7000 to 0.9999 decimal-inch reamer diameter range. It is well suited for through-holes and blind holes in ferrous and non-ferrous stock where dimensional accuracy and finish quality are required. Typical applications include fixture plates, bearing housings, bushing bores, and precision-fit pin locations in production or prototype work.
Designed as a standard chucking reamer for use in machine tools accepting a straight-cylindrical shank; compatible with drill chucks, ER collet systems, and similar workholding that accommodate the shank diameter of this tool class.
This tool is installed by machinists in machine tool spindles — power down and lock out the machine before mounting or removing the reamer. Seat the straight-cylindrical shank fully and evenly in the chuck or collet before tightening. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and maintain bore finish quality. Always pre-drill or bore the hole to within the recommended stock allowance before reaming; do not use a reamer to remove excess material.
