The HERTEL 2297802 is a straight-flute chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in metal workpieces. Built from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish, this reamer delivers accurate sizing to 18.00mm (0.7087 inches) in diameter. The 8-flute straight configuration provides smooth cutting action and consistent surface finish in through-holes and blind holes. At 9 inches overall length with a 2.25-inch flute length and a straight-cylindrical shank, it mounts directly in standard drill chucks, collet chucks, or floating holders on manual or CNC equipment. Machinists, tool-and-die makers, and maintenance professionals use this reamer for final-pass sizing where close tolerance fits are required.
This chucking reamer is suited for general-purpose reaming operations in job shops, production machining environments, and maintenance facilities. It is sized for applications requiring an 18.00mm finished bore, common in metric-dimensioned fixtures, jigs, and mechanical assemblies. The right-hand cutting direction is compatible with standard spindle rotation. The straight-cylindrical shank accommodates the widest range of holding systems without requiring a Morse taper adapter or specialized toolholder.
Designed as a standard chucking reamer for use in drill presses, lathes, milling machines, and CNC machining centers equipped with a straight-cylindrical shank holding system. Fits any holder accepting a straight-cylindrical shank at the appropriate diameter.
Chucking reamers are installed by machinists or tool-and-die professionals. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool holder is clean and free of debris before mounting the reamer. Use a floating holder where possible to allow self-centering and minimize bell-mouthing of the finished bore. Always pre-drill or bore the hole close to final size before reaming — attempting to remove excessive stock in a single reaming pass will accelerate tool wear and compromise hole tolerance.
