The HERTEL 2297505 is a straight-flute chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in metal and similar materials. Built from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish, it delivers consistent bore sizing at 15.00 mm (0.5906 inches) diameter. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill chucks and collet holders. With an overall length of 8 inches and a 2-inch flute length, this reamer handles typical through-hole and blind-hole finishing operations where dimensional accuracy and surface finish quality are the priority. Right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional feed applications.
This chucking reamer is suited for machine shop, maintenance, and production environments where holes must be brought to a precise final diameter. It fits vertical mills, drill presses, lathes, and CNC machining centers equipped with a suitable chuck or collet. The 15.00 mm diameter targets metric-specification bores, making it a practical choice for shops working with metric-dimensioned components such as bushings, bearing bores, and close-tolerance pin fits. No dowel pin or over/under size offset applies — this is a standard nominal-size reamer.
Designed as a standard chucking reamer for use in any machine tool accepting a straight-cylindrical shank in the appropriate collet or chuck size, including drill presses, milling machines, lathes, and CNC machining centers.
Chucking reamers are installed by qualified machinists and toolroom personnel. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet and verify runout before cutting. Apply appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and improve surface finish. Pre-drill or bore the hole to within 0.005 to 0.015 inches of final size before reaming — do not use this tool to remove excess material beyond its intended finishing stock allowance.
