The HERTEL 2292225 is a straight-flute chucking reamer designed to finish-ream holes to a Letter V diameter of 0.3770 inches. Built from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish, it delivers consistent sizing in ferrous and non-ferrous materials across general machining and toolroom applications. The straight-cylindrical shank seats directly in a drill chuck or collet, and the six-flute geometry provides smooth material removal with good surface finish. Overall length is 7 inches with a 1.75-inch flute length. Right-hand cutting direction. This reamer is typically installed by machinists, tool-and-die makers, and maintenance technicians working on precision bore finishing operations.
The 2292225 is suited for through-hole and blind-hole reaming in production and job-shop environments where a Letter V finish bore is required. Common applications include bearing and bushing seat preparation, dowel hole finishing, and fixture work where hole tolerance and surface finish matter. The short flute length relative to overall length makes it well suited for use in CNC machining centers, manual lathes, and drill presses where controlled stock removal of pre-drilled or bored holes is needed.
Designed as a standard chucking reamer for use in any machine tool accepting a straight-cylindrical shank in the corresponding diameter range, including drill presses, lathes, and machining centers.
Always secure the workpiece and confirm spindle runout is within acceptable tolerance before reaming, as excessive runout will produce an oversized or out-of-round bore. Power down the machine and lock out energy sources before changing or inspecting tooling. Apply an appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and improve surface finish. Reaming is a finishing operation — ensure the pre-drilled or bored hole leaves only the recommended amount of stock for the reamer to remove.
