The HERTEL 2291102 is a straight-flute chucking reamer manufactured from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish. Designed to finish-ream wire size number 10 holes to a precise 0.1935 inch diameter, it delivers clean, accurate bores in a range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The six-flute configuration provides smooth chip evacuation and a consistent surface finish. With a 5 inch overall length and a 1.25 inch flute length, this reamer fits standard drill press and lathe chucks via its straight-cylindrical shank. Right-hand cutting direction makes it compatible with conventional spindle rotation. Machinists and tool-and-die technicians rely on this type of reamer for precision hole finishing in production and job-shop environments.
This reamer is suited for finishing pre-drilled or bored holes to wire size number 10 tolerances in light manufacturing, maintenance, repair, and toolroom operations. The straight flute geometry works well in through-hole and short blind-hole applications in materials such as aluminum, brass, mild steel, and plastic. The straight-cylindrical shank allows secure clamping in drill chucks, collets, and floating reamer holders on drill presses, lathes, and milling machines. This tool is typically used where hole location and diameter consistency are critical before pin, fastener, or shaft fitment.
Designed as a general-purpose chucking reamer for use in drill presses, lathes, and milling machines equipped with a drill chuck, collet, or floating reamer holder that accepts a straight-cylindrical shank in the 0.1500 to 0.1999 inch diameter range.
Secure the shank fully in a drill chuck, collet, or floating reamer holder before operation. Always pre-drill or bore the hole to the appropriate undersized diameter before reaming; never use a reamer as the primary hole-making tool. Apply cutting fluid appropriate for the work material to extend tool life and improve surface finish. Power down the spindle and allow it to come to a complete stop before removing or adjusting the tool.
