The HERTEL 2290096 is a straight-flute chucking reamer designed to finish-size drilled holes to tight tolerances. Built from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish, it delivers clean, accurate bores in a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill chucks or collet holders, and the right-hand cutting direction suits conventional machine operation. At 4 inches overall length with a 1-inch flute, this reamer is sized for light-duty through-hole and blind-hole finishing work on drill presses, lathes, and milling machines.
This reamer is intended for machine-shop, maintenance, and toolroom applications where a 9/64-inch (0.1406 inch decimal) finished bore diameter is required. Typical uses include sizing holes for close-fit pins, bushings, and fastener clearances in production and repair work. It is sold individually and suited for low-volume runs or single-use maintenance tasks where a dedicated finish-reaming step is required before press-fitting or assembly.
Designed as a standard chucking reamer for use in drill presses, lathes, milling machines, and similar machine tools equipped with a drill chuck or collet capable of accepting a straight-cylindrical shank in the 9/64-inch diameter range.
Chucking reamers are installed by machinists or toolroom technicians — power down and lock out the machine spindle before mounting or removing the tool. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank fully within the chuck or collet to prevent runout and tool pull-out during cutting. Apply an appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and improve bore finish. Pre-drill the hole close to final size before reaming; attempting to remove excessive material with a reamer will accelerate wear and reduce accuracy.
