The HERTEL 2058477 is a chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in metal machining applications. Built from high-speed steel (HSS) with a titanium carbonitride (TiCN) coating, it delivers extended tool life and improved wear resistance compared to uncoated HSS reamers. The reamer features a straight-cylindrical shank for secure chuck mounting and a right-hand spiral flute configuration that promotes smooth cutting action and efficient chip evacuation. At 0.6562 inches (21/32 inches) in diameter with an overall length of 9 inches and a flute length of 2.25 inches, it suits a range of through-hole and blind-hole finishing operations requiring tight dimensional tolerances. Licensed machinists and toolroom technicians are the primary users.
This chucking reamer is suited for use in machine shops, toolrooms, and production environments where accurate bore finishing is required. It is designed for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and lathes where the straight-cylindrical shank can be gripped in standard chucks or collets. The right-hand cutting direction and eight-flute design make it appropriate for finishing holes in steel, cast iron, and similar ferrous materials where surface finish and dimensional accuracy are critical.
Designed as an OEM-style chucking reamer for use in standard chuck and collet toolholding systems on CNC machining centers, drill presses, and lathes accepting straight-cylindrical shank tooling in the appropriate diameter range.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians familiar with reamer operation. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the workpiece is securely fixtured before mounting or removing the reamer. Use appropriate cutting fluid or lubricant for the workpiece material to optimize surface finish and tool life. Do not use a reamer to remove excessive stock — pre-drill or bore the hole to within recommended allowance before reaming.
