The HERTEL 18762 is a high speed steel countersink designed for creating chamfered holes that accept flat-head fasteners flush with or below a workpiece surface. It features a 3/8 inch head diameter, an 82-degree included angle, and four flutes for consistent chip evacuation and smooth seat geometry. The straight cylindrical shank is also 3/8 inch in diameter, making it compatible with standard drill chucks and quick-change toolholders. Machinists and fabricators use this tool in metalworking, sheet metal, and general manufacturing applications where precision countersunk holes are required.
This countersink is suited for production and job shop environments where a reliable, repeatable 82-degree seat is needed. The four-flute configuration reduces chatter compared to single-flute designs, making it appropriate for use in drill presses, CNC machining centers, and hand-held power drills when controlled feed and speed are maintained. It is packaged as a single unit.
Designed as a standard 82-degree countersink for use with drill presses, CNC machining centers, and power drills equipped with a chuck or collet accepting a 3/8 inch straight cylindrical shank.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or fabricators familiar with proper feed and speed selection for high speed steel tooling. Secure the workpiece firmly before operation and set spindle speed appropriate to the workpiece material and tool diameter. Eye protection and chip guards should be used in accordance with applicable shop safety standards. Inspect the flutes for wear or chipping before each use.
