The HERTEL 18688 is a single-angle countersink designed for deburring, chamfering, and countersinking operations in metal fabrication and machining applications. Built from high speed steel, it delivers consistent cutting performance across a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The tool features a 1-1/4 inch head diameter and a 90-degree included angle, making it suited for standard flathead fastener seat preparation. The straight-cylindrical 1/2 inch shank provides secure, concentric seating in drill press chucks and milling machine collets. Four flutes distribute cutting load evenly and help clear chips efficiently during operation.
This countersink is used in general metalworking, tool and die, maintenance, and production machining environments. It is appropriate for drilling and finishing operations where a clean, accurate 90-degree chamfer is required on drilled holes prior to fastener installation. Machinists, maintenance technicians, and fabricators working with steel, aluminum, brass, and similar materials will find this tool suitable for both bench drill press and CNC setups.
Designed as a standard single-angle countersink for use in drill presses, milling machines, and CNC equipment accepting a 1/2 inch straight-cylindrical shank tooling.
Installation and operation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet before use and verify runout is within acceptable tolerance for the application. Always power down and lock out the machine before changing tooling. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and improve finish quality.
