The HERTEL 18679 is a 4-flute, high-speed steel countersink designed for deburring, chamfering, and seat preparation in metal fabrication and machining applications. The tool features a 1-inch head diameter and a 90-degree included angle, making it well-suited for standard fastener seat prep and edge chamfering on steel, aluminum, and similar materials. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 0.5 inches in diameter for secure chuck retention. This countersink is used by machinists, tool-and-die professionals, and maintenance technicians working in production and job-shop environments.
The HERTEL 18679 fits standard drill press, milling machine, and hand-drill applications where a 0.5-inch straight shank chuck is available. It handles countersinking for flat-head screw seating and general chamfering tasks on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces. The 90-degree angle is the most common included angle for unified inch fastener applications in North American manufacturing and maintenance environments.
Designed for use in standard 0.5-inch straight-shank chuck setups on drill presses, mills, and hand drills where a 90-degree countersink is required for unified inch fastener seating and chamfering operations.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or trade technicians familiar with rotary cutting tools. Secure the shank fully in the chuck before operation and verify spindle speed is appropriate for the workpiece material and tool diameter. Always power down and lock out the machine before changing or inspecting the tool. Do not exceed the tool manufacturer's recommended RPM range for the material being worked.
