The HERTEL 18327 is a straight-shank countersink designed for creating conical seat profiles in metal, plastic, and composite workpieces. It features a 3/4 inch head diameter, a 120-degree included angle, and six flutes ground from high speed steel. The six-flute geometry distributes cutting load evenly, reducing chatter and producing a cleaner finish than single- or three-flute designs. A straight-cylindrical shank with a matching 3/4 inch diameter seats securely in standard collet chucks and drill press spindles. This tool is installed and used by machinists, toolroom technicians, and maintenance mechanics working on drilling and fastener-prep operations.
This countersink is suited for chamfering bolt and screw holes to accept flathead fasteners, deburring drilled holes, and preparing mating surfaces for countersunk hardware in production and maintenance environments. The 120-degree angle is commonly specified for sheet metal and structural applications where standard flathead machine screws must sit flush. It is appropriate for use on drill presses, milling machines, and CNC machining centers with adequate spindle speed control.
Designed as a standard straight-shank countersink for use in drill presses, milling machines, and CNC machining centers accepting a 3/4 inch cylindrical shank.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians familiar with rotating cutting tools. Secure the shank fully in the collet or chuck before operation and verify runout before cutting. Power down and de-energize the machine before changing tooling. Always operate within the recommended spindle speed range for the workpiece material and tool diameter to avoid premature wear or tool failure.
