The HERTEL 18299 is a single-unit countersink designed for creating angled seat holes that accept flat-head fasteners flush with or below a workpiece surface. Built from high speed steel (HSS), it delivers consistent cutting performance across ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The 82-degree included angle matches the standard fastener geometry used throughout North American manufacturing and fabrication. With a 1/4-inch head diameter and 1/4-inch straight cylindrical shank, this tool fits standard drill chucks and collet holders without adapters. The 6-flute configuration reduces chatter and produces a cleaner finish than lower-flute-count alternatives, making it suitable for precision countersinking in sheet metal, aluminum, and light steel.
This countersink is used in metal fabrication, machine shops, and maintenance and repair operations where accurate fastener seating is required. The 82-degree geometry is the standard angle for flat-head machine screws and aerospace-style fasteners common in light structural and sheet-metal assemblies. It is appropriate for use in both manual drill press setups and CNC machining centers equipped with 1/4-inch tool holders.
Designed as a standard countersink for use with 1/4-inch compatible tool holders and drill chucks accepting straight cylindrical shanks. Compatible with drill presses, hand drills, and CNC spindles configured for 1/4-inch shank tooling.
This tool is installed by machinists, fabricators, and maintenance technicians using standard drill press or CNC setup procedures. Secure the shank firmly in the chuck or collet before operation and confirm the workpiece is clamped or fixtured to prevent movement. Set spindle speed appropriate for the workpiece material and tool diameter per standard machining reference tables. Inspect the cutting edges before use and do not operate with a damaged or dull tool.
