The HERTEL 18015 is a single-flute countersink designed for creating conical seat angles in metal and other materials prior to fastener installation. It features a 3/8 inch head diameter with a 60-degree included angle, making it well suited for deburring holes and forming countersunk seats for flat-head fasteners. The 1/4 inch straight cylindrical shank provides a secure grip in standard drill chucks and collet holders. Constructed from high speed steel, this countersink maintains cutting edge integrity under typical shop and field drilling conditions. It is a single-piece, individually packaged tool used by machinists, millwrights, and general trade professionals working with metal fabrication or equipment repair tasks.
This countersink is appropriate for light to medium-duty countersinking operations on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. The 60-degree included angle is commonly used in applications where flat-head machine screws or similar fasteners require a flush-mounted seat. The straight cylindrical shank fits standard drill press chucks, hand drills, and CNC collet tooling with a 1/4 inch tool holding capacity. It is a practical single-flute design that minimizes chatter on harder materials while producing a clean, consistent countersink profile.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use countersink tool compatible with any drill press, hand drill, or CNC spindle accepting a 1/4 inch straight cylindrical shank.
This tool is installed by machinists and trade professionals using standard drill press or hand drill equipment. Secure the shank fully in the chuck before operation and verify the workpiece is clamped to prevent movement. Use appropriate cutting fluid on harder metals to extend tool life and improve surface finish. Follow applicable shop safety standards including eye protection and secure workholding practices.
