The HERTEL 18012 is a single-flute, high-speed steel countersink designed for deburring and chamfering operations on drilled holes. The 90-degree included angle and 1/4-inch head diameter make it well-suited for creating clean, flush seat surfaces for flat-head fasteners in metal, plastic, and wood substrates. The straight cylindrical shank measures 1/4 inch in diameter, allowing direct chuck mounting in standard drill presses, milling machines, and hand drills. Machinists, toolmakers, and fabricators use this countersink for light-duty production and maintenance applications where precise angular control is needed.
This countersink is appropriate for use in machine shops, fabrication facilities, and maintenance environments. The single-flute geometry reduces cutting forces and is particularly effective in softer metals and non-ferrous materials. Its compact 1/4-inch head diameter suits smaller hole diameters where larger multi-flute countersinks would be oversized. The straight cylindrical shank provides reliable concentricity in standard collet or drill chuck setups.
Designed as a standard OEM-style single-flute countersink for use in drill presses, CNC mills, and hand drill applications requiring a 1/4-inch straight cylindrical shank and 90-degree chamfer geometry.
This countersink is installed by machinists and fabricators using a standard drill chuck or collet. Secure the workpiece firmly before operation and set spindle speed appropriate to the workpiece material and tool diameter. Inspect the cutting edge before use and replace if chipping or dullness is observed. Always wear appropriate eye protection when operating rotary cutting tools.
