The HERTEL 16IRZAG60HG225T is a solid carbide laydown threading insert designed for internal right-hand partial-profile 60-degree thread cutting. Manufactured to the 16IR insert style and coated with TiAlN via a PVD process, this insert handles a thread pitch range of 0.50 mm to 3.00 mm, equivalent to 48 to 8 TPI. The 3/8-inch inscribed circle and 0.1614-inch thickness conform to standard laydown seating geometry. CNC lathe operators and tool-room machinists install this insert into compatible 16IR toolholders for threading operations on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces.
This insert is suited for internal threading applications on CNC turning centers and manual lathes where a consistent 60-degree thread form is required. The TiAlN coating provides heat resistance at elevated cutting speeds, making it appropriate for production threading on steel, stainless, and similar materials. The partial-profile geometry allows the insert to produce threads across multiple pitches within the 48 to 8 TPI range without requiring a dedicated insert per pitch. Each package contains one insert, with a minimum order quantity of 10 units.
Designed for use in 16IR-style laydown threading toolholders. Confirm toolholder insert pocket geometry and seating dimensions before installation.
This insert is installed by a machinist or tool-room technician familiar with CNC lathe tooling. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is secured before seating or replacing the insert. Use the correct torx or clamping screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer and do not overtighten. Verify insert orientation for right-hand internal threading before initiating a test cut.
