The HERTEL 11IR14UNJHG225T is a solid carbide laydown threading insert designed for internal UNJ thread forms at 14 threads per inch. Built to manufacturer grade HG225TR, this insert features a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, which provides thermal resistance and extended tool life in demanding threading applications. The inscribed circle measures 0.25 inches and the insert thickness is 0.127 inches. It is a right-hand insert suited for single-point internal threading operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Machinists and toolroom professionals working on aerospace-grade or high-precision fastener threads will find the UNJ profile geometry suited to their requirements.
This insert is intended for internal threading operations producing UNJ-standard thread forms, which incorporate a controlled root radius to improve fatigue resistance compared to standard UN threads. Typical applications include threading bores on aerospace components, hydraulic fittings, and precision mechanical assemblies where UNJ thread specifications are called out on engineering drawings. The 14 TPI pitch targets medium-coarse thread sizes commonly found in these industries. Installation is performed on compatible laydown insert toolholders accepting the 11IR insert style.
Designed for use in toolholders accepting the 11IR laydown insert style for internal threading. Confirm holder bore size, shank geometry, and insert pocket dimensions against your toolholder specifications before mounting.
Threading inserts should be installed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing any insert. Seat the insert fully and evenly in the pocket and torque the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specification using the correct Torx or hex key. Verify thread form and pitch with a thread gauge on a test piece before committing to a production run.
