The HERTEL 113016505 is a solid carbide cutoff insert designed for parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. This insert uses the MGTN-2 style geometry with an HT25 manufacturer grade, delivering a 2.2 mm (0.0870 inch) cutting width and a neutral lead angle with a 30-degree relief angle. The uncoated solid carbide construction suits a wide range of workpiece materials classified under C5 material grade. Machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments install this insert when consistent, repeatable cutoff performance is required on a turning application.
This insert is suited for cut-off applications on metalworking lathes where precise groove width control is critical. The MGTN-2 insert style fits compatible MGTN-style toolholders used across general-purpose turning setups. The neutral lead angle geometry provides a balanced cutting action, making it appropriate for both through-cutoff and grooving passes on bar stock and turned components in light to medium material grades.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for MGTN-2 style cutoff and parting toolholders used in standard CNC and manual turning applications.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the machine spindle is stopped and the turret or toolpost is in a safe, indexed position before changing inserts. Use the appropriate insert clamping torque per the toolholder manufacturer specifications and verify secure seating before resuming cutting operations. Inspect the toolholder pocket for chips or debris before installing a new insert.
