The HERTEL 10967 is a single-flute countersink designed for creating clean, chamfered entry points in metal and other materials prior to fastener seating. Built from high-speed steel (HSS), this tool delivers consistent performance across general metalworking, fabrication, and maintenance applications. The 5/8 inch head diameter and 90-degree included angle match the most common flat-head fastener geometry used in production and field work. The straight cylindrical shank measures 3/8 inch in diameter, making it compatible with standard drill chucks and holders. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and maintenance mechanics are the primary installers of this type of cutting tool.
This countersink is suited for use in machine shops, fabrication facilities, and on-site maintenance environments where precise chamfering of drilled holes is required. The 90-degree included angle is the standard geometry for flat-head machine screws and bolts in both inch and metric fastener systems. Single-flute construction reduces chatter and produces a smooth, accurate seat in steel, aluminum, brass, and similar materials. It is sold individually and is appropriate for low-volume production runs and repair work alike.
Designed as an OEM-style single-flute countersink for use in standard 3/8 inch straight-shank drill chucks and compatible machine tool holders used in general metalworking and fabrication applications.
This tool is installed by machinists, tool-and-die technicians, or qualified maintenance mechanics using a drill press, milling machine, or hand drill with a compatible 3/8 inch chuck. Secure the shank fully in the chuck before operation and verify workpiece is clamped or fixtured to prevent movement. Use appropriate cutting fluid for steel workpieces to extend tool life and improve surface finish. Inspect the cutting edge for wear or chipping before each use and replace if the edge is compromised.
