The HERTEL 1-322-1006 is a 10-inch diameter, 4-jaw independent manual lathe chuck designed for precision workholding on metalworking lathes. Built with a cast iron body, it accommodates solid reversible jaws and delivers a maximum spindle speed of 1,500 RPM. The independent jaw design allows each jaw to be adjusted individually, making it well suited for chucking irregular, asymmetrical, or non-concentric workpieces. With an axial runout of 0.0010 inches and a through-hole diameter of 2.599 inches, this chuck is built for accurate, repeatable setups on production and job-shop lathes alike. Installation and setup are performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians.
This chuck is intended for use on manual engine lathes in machine shops, toolrooms, and manufacturing facilities. The 10-inch body diameter and 1,500 RPM maximum speed make it appropriate for medium to large lathe spindles in both light production and general-purpose turning applications. The independent jaw configuration is particularly useful when facing or turning castings, forgings, and other non-round stock that cannot be centered with a scroll chuck. Jaw capacity ranges from 25/64 inches minimum to 1-27/32 inches maximum, covering a practical range of workpiece diameters.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit accessory for manual engine lathes accepting a 10-inch 4-jaw independent chuck. Verify spindle nose type and chuck mounting interface before installation.
A qualified machinist or toolroom technician should mount and true this chuck. Power down and lock out the lathe before removing or installing any chuck. Use proper chuck keys and mounting hardware rated for the spindle nose type on the host machine. Verify runout with a dial indicator after mounting and before initiating any cutting operation.
