The HERTEL 06822282 is a single-end cobalt roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in ferrous and high-temperature alloy machining applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, this 4-flute tool delivers the heat and wear resistance needed for interrupted cuts and demanding production environments. The 1/2 inch cutting diameter pairs with a 1-1/4 inch length of cut and a 3-1/4 inch overall length, giving machinists a rigid, regular-length profile suited for milling pockets, slots, and peripheral cuts where heavy chip loads are expected. The bright uncoated finish keeps the tool ready to run as-received on most setups. A licensed machinist or toolroom technician is the typical end user.
This roughing end mill is suited for job shop, production floor, and maintenance machining environments where stock removal rate matters more than fine surface finish. The serrated or wave-form cutting geometry typical of roughing end mills reduces cutting forces and breaks chips into shorter segments, which helps manage heat and tool pressure in both horizontal and vertical milling operations. The right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional CNC milling centers and manual knee mills alike.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit roughing end mill for standard 1/2 inch end mill holders, collet chucks, and Weldon-flat holders used in CNC machining centers and manual milling machines.
A qualified machinist or toolroom technician should install and operate this end mill. Ensure the milling machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Secure the 1/2 inch shank in a properly sized collet or end mill holder to the torque specification listed by the toolholder manufacturer — do not overtighten. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or damage before each use, and confirm correct spindle rotation direction matches the right-hand cut geometry before engaging the workpiece.
