The HERTEL 04619029 is a stub-length threaded shank drill bit designed for precision hole-making in low-tensile strength materials. It uses a No. 13 wire size, which corresponds to 0.185 inches in decimal, and features a 135-degree split point with web thinning for fast, self-centering starts with minimal thrust. The 1/4-28 threaded hex shank provides positive engagement and eliminates slippage in compatible quick-change or threaded-shank holders. Constructed from high speed steel with an oxide coating, this bit delivers reliable performance in production and maintenance drilling applications where a compact overall length is required.
This bit is suited for use by aerospace maintenance technicians, industrial mechanics, and general-purpose fabrication shops. The stub OAL of 0.5625 inches — with a flute length of 0.3125 inches — is ideal for confined-space drilling or fixture work where a standard-length bit would be impractical. The NAS 965 Type B specification indicates suitability for aerospace and defense maintenance applications. Right-hand cutting direction with a regular spiral flute pattern produces clean chip evacuation in aluminum, soft steel, plastics, and similar low-tensile strength materials.
Designed for use with threaded-shank and quick-change drill holders that accept a 1/4-28 threaded hex shank. Intended for drilling low-tensile strength materials including aluminum, soft steel, and plastics.
Install and remove this bit only while the drill or driver is fully powered down and secured. Verify that the drill holder accepts a 1/4-28 threaded shank before installation, and confirm thread engagement is complete before applying load. Wear appropriate eye protection when drilling; secure the workpiece to prevent movement. Inspect the cutting edges and web area for wear before each use, and replace the bit if the split point shows chipping or the flutes show signs of heat discoloration.
