The HERTEL 04141123 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit sized at 21/64 inches (0.3281 inches decimal) with a 135-degree split point and a titanium nitride (TiN) coating. It is designed for heavy-duty holemaking in ferrous metals, stainless steel, and other hard materials where standard high-speed steel bits wear prematurely. The web-thinned split point reduces thrust and improves centering without a separate punch mark. The spiral flute geometry promotes chip evacuation in deep-hole applications. Right-hand cutting direction, straight-cylindrical shank, and regular spiral type make this a direct fit for standard drill chucks and CNC toolholders.
This bit is suited for metalworking, fabrication, and maintenance applications across industrial and commercial settings. Machinists, pipefitters, ironworkers, and general maintenance techs use jobber-length cobalt bits when drilling through structural steel, stainless components, or cast iron. The 4-5/8 inch overall length and 3-5/16 inch flute length provide the reach and chip clearance needed for typical through-hole work in plate and structural members up to the flute length in depth.
Designed as a jobber-series straight-shank drill bit compatible with any drill chuck accepting a 21/64 inch straight-cylindrical shank, including handheld power drills, drill presses, and CNC machining centers.
This drill bit is installed and operated by machinists, fabricators, and maintenance technicians using drill presses, hand drills, or CNC equipment. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in a properly rated chuck before operation and confirm the workpiece is clamped or fixtured to prevent rotation. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant on hard materials to preserve edge life; note that coolant-through is not supported on this bit. Inspect the cutting edges and TiN coating for wear before each use and replace when point geometry is degraded to avoid oversized holes or work hardening.
