The HERTEL 04140489 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance holemaking in tough materials. Ground to a 135-degree split point with web thinning, it starts on contact and reduces the thrust needed to enter hardened steels, stainless, and high-temp alloys. The TiAlN coating adds surface hardness and thermal resistance, extending tool life in demanding production drilling. At 2.125 inches overall length with a 0.9844-inch spiral flute, this bit fits standard jobber-drill holders and chucks. Machinists, tool-and-die workers, and maintenance technicians install this bit for precision drilling where standard HSS tooling wears prematurely.
This drill bit is sized at 2.00 mm (0.0787 inches) diameter with a straight-cylindrical shank of matching diameter, making it compatible with standard drill chucks and collet holders designed for that shank size. It is suited for production and maintenance drilling in ferrous metals, stainless steel, cast iron, and similar hard materials where cobalt composition and TiAlN coating provide a clear performance advantage over standard high-speed steel bits. Right-hand spiral flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation in through-hole and blind-hole applications.
Designed as an OEM-style jobber drill replacement for use in standard drill chucks and collet-style toolholders accepting a 0.0787-inch straight-cylindrical shank, within the 0.0500 to 0.1000 inch drill bit size range.
Installation is performed by machinists or maintenance technicians using a standard keyed or keyless chuck, or an appropriate collet holder sized to the 0.0787-inch shank diameter. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the chuck is properly tightened before beginning any drilling operation. Inspect the cutting edges and coating for damage before each use; discard bits with chipped edges to avoid workpiece damage or breakage. Follow shop-specific feeds-and-speeds charts for cobalt TiAlN-coated tooling in the material being drilled.
