The HERTEL 04138913 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit designed for heavy-duty holemaking in ferrous and hard materials. Built to a No. 44 wire gauge size, it measures 0.0860 inches in diameter with a 2.125-inch overall length and a 1.125-inch flute length. The 135-degree split point reduces walking on entry and lowers thrust requirements compared to a conventional 118-degree point. The oxide and TiN coating provides surface hardness and heat resistance for extended tool life in high-cycle production environments. A tapered web with web thinning keeps cutting forces manageable. This bit is sold individually and is intended for use by machinists, maintenance technicians, and trade professionals performing precision drilling tasks.
This bit suits applications requiring accurate small-diameter holes in steel, stainless, cast iron, and other difficult-to-machine materials. The straight cylindrical shank seats directly in standard drill chucks, collets, and quick-change tooling systems. The regular spiral flute geometry promotes chip evacuation in through-hole and blind-hole operations. It is appropriate for use in bench drill presses, CNC machining centers, hand-held drill motors, and turret setups where a jobber-length reach is sufficient. The heavy-duty grade cobalt substrate handles elevated cutting temperatures better than standard high-speed steel.
Designed as a jobber-series replacement or direct-use drill bit for any standard drill chuck or collet accepting a 0.0860-inch straight cylindrical shank across benchtop, floor, and CNC drill applications.
A licensed machinist or qualified technician should secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet before operation, verifying runout is within acceptable limits for the application. Power down and de-energize or lock out the machine before changing bits. Coolant-through is not supported on this bit; apply external cutting fluid as needed when drilling hard materials. Follow applicable shop safety codes and machine manufacturer guidelines for spindle speed and feed rate selection.
