The HERTEL 04138418 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit designed for heavy-duty holemaking in tough materials. Built from cobalt steel with an oxide and TiN coating, it resists heat and wear during prolonged drilling cycles. The 135-degree split point reduces walking on entry and lowers the thrust needed to start a hole. The web-thinned, tapered web construction improves chip evacuation and keeps cutting forces manageable. At 5.25 inches overall length with a 3.875-inch flute, this bit fits standard jobber-length applications across a wide range of drilling setups. It is sized at 13/32 inches (0.4062 inches decimal) with a matching straight-cylindrical shank.
This drill bit is suited for metal fabrication, mechanical contracting, and maintenance applications where stainless steel, high-strength steel, cast iron, or other hard alloys are encountered. It is commonly used by pipefitters, millwrights, HVAC sheet metal mechanics, and industrial maintenance technicians who need a reliable heavy-duty bit for production or field drilling. The right-hand spiral flute and regular helix angle work well in both handheld and drill press setups. A single bit is supplied per package.
Designed as an OEM-style jobber drill bit replacement suitable for use in standard drill presses, magnetic base drills, and handheld power drills equipped with a 3-jaw chuck capable of accepting a 13/32-inch straight-cylindrical shank.
Secure the shank fully in the chuck before beginning any drilling operation and confirm the workpiece is clamped or fixtured. Disengage and lock out power to any machine tool before changing bits. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant when drilling hard alloys to maximize bit life, as the cobalt construction is heat-tolerant but not immune to dry-drilling damage at high feed rates. Follow applicable OSHA and facility safety standards for rotating machinery when operating drill presses or handheld drills.
