The HERTEL 04138392 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit designed for heavy-duty holemaking in ferrous and hard materials. Built from cobalt steel with an oxide and TiN coating, this bit delivers heat resistance and edge retention in demanding drilling applications. The 135-degree split point reduces walking and requires no center punch on most surfaces. With a 3/8-inch diameter, a 5-inch overall length, and a 3-5/8-inch flute length, it fits standard drill chucks and drill presses used in fabrication, mechanical, and trade service work. A web-thinned, tapered web design reduces thrust and improves chip evacuation through the spiral flutes.
This drill bit is suited for production and maintenance drilling in metal fabrication shops, HVAC sheet metal work, plumbing rough-in, and electrical trade applications where harder base materials are encountered. The straight-cylindrical shank accepts standard three-jaw chucks. The right-hand spiral flute geometry handles steel, stainless, cast iron, and other tough alloys that standard HSS bits struggle with. It is sold individually and is appropriate for both bench drill press and handheld drill motor use.
Designed as a jobber-series replacement or upgrade drill bit for use in any standard three-jaw drill chuck accepting a 3/8-inch straight shank. Suitable for bench drill presses, drill motors, and magnetic drill units used in trade and fabrication settings.
Installation of this bit should be performed by a qualified tradesperson familiar with drill press or handheld drill motor operation. Ensure the drill motor or press is fully de-energized and the chuck is secured before inserting or removing the bit. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant when drilling stainless or hardened steel to extend bit life, even though this bit is not rated for coolant-through delivery. Confirm chuck jaw condition and bit seating before initiating the cut.
