The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 87436 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for demanding metal removal in stainless steel, high-temperature alloys, and hardened steel. It features a 1/4 inch cutting diameter, 6-flute chipbreaker geometry, and a 0.01 inch corner radius that reduces edge chipping and extends tool life in difficult-to-machine materials. The variable pitch flute spacing dampens vibration during aggressive roughing cuts, while the Tplus PVD coating adds wear resistance and heat tolerance. Single-end, centercutting design allows plunge entry. This tool is installed and run by machinists and CNC tooling professionals in precision shop environments.
The 87436 is designed for roughing and high-efficiency milling operations in stainless steel and high-temperature alloy applications. Its chipbreaker and variable pitch configuration make it well suited for side milling, slotting, and full-width roughing passes where chip control and chatter suppression are critical. The 3/4 inch length of cut accommodates typical shallow-to-moderate depth passes in these materials, and the straight cylindrical shank fits standard ER collets and high-precision toolholders as recommended by the manufacturer.
Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, and cast iron (ISO P, M, K). Secondary materials include non-ferrous metals and superalloys including titanium (ISO N, S). Manufacturer recommends use with high-precision toolholders. Part of the HEV-C-6 series.
Installation and setup should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool is secured to the correct torque specification for the toolholder type before beginning any operation. Use a high-precision collet or shrink-fit holder to stay within the 0.0005 inch maximum TIR specification. Verify cutting parameters including feed rate, speed, and depth of cut against the manufacturer tooling data for the specific workpiece material before initiating a cut.
