The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 87025 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-efficiency material removal in aluminum and other non-ferrous metals. Built on the H40ALV-3 series platform, this single-end, center-cutting tool features a 1/2 inch mill diameter, a 0.01 inch corner radius, and a 40-degree high helix angle optimized for chip evacuation in aluminum. The variable-pitch flute geometry reduces harmonic vibration during aggressive cuts, supporting both roughing and finishing operations in a single tool. A Zplus PVD coating protects the cutting edges and extends tool life in non-ferrous applications. This tool is intended for use in high-precision toolholders to maintain runout control at the spindle.
This end mill is suited for CNC machining operations in job shops, aerospace fabrication, mold shops, and production environments where aluminum and non-ferrous alloys are the primary workpiece materials. The 2-1/2 inch length of cut allows deep-cavity profiling, slotting, and contouring passes where standard-length tools cannot reach. Secondary material capability extends to steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and hard materials, making this a versatile option when aluminum is the primary application but mixed-material runs occur. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional CNC spindle configurations.
Designed for use with high-precision toolholders; primary material application is aluminum and non-ferrous metals, with secondary capability in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and hard materials. Belongs to the HELICAL SOLUTIONS H40ALV-3 series.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or tooling technician with the spindle fully stopped and machine power isolated per shop lock-out/tag-out procedures. Use a high-precision toolholder such as a shrink-fit or hydraulic chuck to keep total indicator runout within the 0.0003 inch TIR maximum specified for this tool. Inspect the toolholder bore and shank for contamination or wear before seating the tool. Verify cutting parameters against the machine spindle speed and feed rate capabilities before initiating the first pass.
