The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 86890 is a 4-flute solid carbide ball end mill engineered for demanding material removal in stainless steels, high-temp alloys, and hardened materials. It measures 3/8 inches in diameter with a 1/2-inch length of cut and a 4-inch overall length. The Tplus PVD coating provides thermal resistance and wear protection suited for high-feed applications. A variable index flute geometry reduces harmonic vibration during aggressive cuts, and the reduced neck profile provides extended reach of 2.125 inches without sacrificing rigidity. Single-end, right-hand cut and flute direction with centercutting capability. Intended for installation by machinists and CNC tooling professionals in precision machining environments.
This end mill is designed for milling operations on stainless steel, high-temp alloys, and hardened materials in both roughing and finishing passes. The stub length classification and reduced neck geometry make it well-suited for accessing tight pockets and contoured surfaces where tool deflection must be minimized. Secondary workpiece materials include steel and cast iron. Right-hand cutting direction is standard. The straight-cylindrical shank seats directly into standard collets and end mill holders for CNC machining centers and manual mills.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills equipped with standard collet or end mill holder systems accepting a 3/8-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece materials are stainless steel, high-temp alloys, and hardened materials. Secondary materials include steel and cast iron.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or holder and torque the retention mechanism per the holder manufacturer specification. Verify runout does not exceed the maximum TIR of 0.0005 inches before beginning a cutting pass.
