The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 86348 is a solid carbide, 6-flute taper form barrel cutter end mill engineered for multi-axis finishing operations on stainless steel and high-temperature alloys. The taper form geometry features a 45-degree taper angle per side and a 36.0000-inch major radius, allowing the cutting edge to engage the workpiece with a large effective radius for superior surface finish with fewer passes. Tplus finish coating improves lubricity and wear resistance, extending tool life in demanding materials. With a 0.25-inch length of cut and a 0.125-inch small end diameter, this tool is suited for tight-geometry finishing in complex contoured surfaces.
This end mill is designed for CNC multi-axis finishing applications where conventional ball nose tools fall short on surface quality and cycle time. The taper form barrel geometry allows higher stepover values while maintaining the same or better surface finish, making it well suited for aerospace, medical, and energy component machining where stainless steels and high-temp alloys such as Inconel, titanium, and similar materials are common. It is typically run on 4- and 5-axis machining centers by experienced CNC machinists and tooling specialists.

Installation and tool changes must be performed by a qualified CNC machinist with the spindle fully stopped and machine in a safe, locked-out state. Use a properly sized collet or tool holder matched to the 0.5-inch shank diameter and ensure runout is within acceptable tolerance before cutting. Verify speeds, feeds, and toolpath engagement angles in CAM software before first use, as taper form barrel cutters require specific multi-axis toolpath strategies distinct from standard end mill paths. Consult the tool manufacturer's recommended cutting parameters for the target material and coating type.
