The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 84761 is a 4-flute solid carbide ball end mill designed for high-performance milling of stainless steels, high-temperature alloys, and hardened materials. It features a 3/8 inch cutting diameter, a 1-1/2 inch length of cut, and a 3 inch overall length with a straight-cylindrical 3/8 inch shank. The Tplus PVD coating improves wear resistance and heat management during demanding cuts. A variable index geometry reduces harmonic vibration, making this tool suitable for both roughing and finishing passes. It is installed and operated by machinists and CNC tooling professionals in precision manufacturing and job shop environments.
This end mill is built for use on stainless steel and high-temp alloy workpieces, including nickel-based and cobalt-based alloys, as well as general steel and cast iron secondary applications. The 35-degree helix angle and center-cutting geometry allow for plunge entry and aggressive side milling. It is well-suited to CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers running high-feed, low-radial-engagement toolpaths. The single-end configuration and standard length make it a direct fit for most CAT, BT, and HSK toolholders with a 3/8 inch bore.
The 84761 is rated for primary use on stainless steel, high-temp alloys, and hardened materials (ISO material codes M, S, H) and secondary use on steel and cast iron (ISO codes P, M, K). It is part of the HELICAL SOLUTIONS HSV-4 series of variable-index ball end mills.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Secure the shank in a collet or end mill holder to the manufacturer-specified runout tolerance before use; the maximum TIR for this tool is 0.0005 inches. Inspect the toolholder bore and collet for wear or contamination before seating the tool. Always verify spindle direction and programmed feed rates match the right-hand cutting geometry before initiating a cut.
