The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 84689 is a solid carbide square end mill engineered for demanding steel-cutting applications. It features a 3/8 inch diameter with a 2-1/2 inch length of cut and a 5 inch overall length, making it well suited for deep-reach profiling and slotting operations. The 4-flute, right-hand helical flute geometry combined with a variable index design reduces harmonic vibration during the cut, improving surface finish and extending tool life. An APLUS coating adds hardness and heat resistance at the cutting edge. This tool is installed and used by machinists and CNC operators running steel, alloy steel, and similar ferrous materials.
This end mill belongs to the Helical Solutions End Mills for Steels series, specifically the 4-Flute Square Variable Pitch line. It is designed for milling operations on steels in CNC machining centers and manual mills where rigidity and chip evacuation are critical. The straight cylindrical shank fits standard collet and end mill holders sized for 3/8 inch tooling. Center-cutting capability allows plunge entry in addition to peripheral and slot milling passes.
Designed for use in standard 3/8 inch collets and end mill holders on CNC machining centers and manual mills; part of the Helical Solutions End Mills for Steels - 4 Flute - Square - Variable Pitch series intended for ferrous metal milling operations.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by qualified machinists with the spindle fully stopped and machine controls locked out. Seat the straight cylindrical shank fully into a clean, properly sized collet or end mill holder and torque the retention mechanism per the holder manufacturer guidelines. Inspect the cutting edges and coating for chips or damage before each use. Follow your machine tool manufacturer specifications and applicable shop safety standards when setting feeds, speeds, and depth of cut for the material being machined.
