The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 83556 is a 3-flute square end mill engineered for aluminum milling applications. Manufactured from solid carbide and coated with a Zplus finish, it delivers fast material removal and clean edge quality in non-ferrous metals. The cutter features a 40-degree helix angle, variable index flute spacing, and a reduced neck geometry that provides extended reach into deep pockets without sacrificing rigidity. With a 1/8 inch cutting diameter and a 5/32 inch length of cut, this tool is suited for tight-tolerance slot milling, profiling, and pocket work where chip evacuation and surface finish both matter.
This end mill is designed for use in CNC machining centers and high-speed milling operations targeting aluminum and similar non-ferrous materials. The reduced neck and 1.5 inch reach length make it a practical choice for deep-pocket profiling in production environments. The variable pitch index reduces harmonic vibration during aggressive cuts, helping machinists maintain dimensional consistency at higher feed rates. It ships as a single-piece unit and is sold individually. It is appropriate for job shops, production facilities, and tool rooms running aluminum aerospace, automotive, or general-purpose components.
Designed for use in the HELICAL SOLUTIONS End Mills for Aluminum series — 3 Flute, Square, 40 degree Helix, Variable Pitch, Reduced Neck. Suitable for CNC milling operations on aluminum and other non-ferrous materials requiring a 1/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank tool holder.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before changing tooling. Use a compatible collet or end mill holder sized for a 1/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank and torque to the tool holder manufacturer specification. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before beginning a production cut, as excessive runout accelerates wear on small-diameter carbide tooling.
