The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 83451 is a solid carbide square end mill engineered for aluminum machining applications. It features a 0.5-inch cutting diameter, a 3-flute helical geometry with a 35-degree helix angle, and an extended reduced-neck design that provides 5 inches of reach length for deep-cavity and long-reach operations. The uncoated bright finish is suited to aluminum, where coatings can cause material adhesion. Overall length is 7 inches with a 0.625-inch length of cut, making this tool appropriate for slotting, profiling, and pocketing in aluminum workpieces on CNC machining centers.
This end mill is intended for use in aluminum and other non-ferrous machining environments where chip evacuation and surface finish are critical. The reduced neck geometry allows access to deep features and thin-wall pockets without sacrificing rigidity at the cutting edge. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional CNC milling setups. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard ER collet chucks and end mill holders with a 0.5-inch bore. It is sold individually and is appropriate for job shop, production, and prototype work in aluminum.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and milling machines equipped with 0.5-inch ER collet chucks, shrink-fit holders, or end mill holders with a straight-cylindrical bore. Intended for aluminum and other non-ferrous materials requiring long-reach square-end milling.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer or drawbar is disengaged before inserting or removing the end mill. Seat the shank fully into the holder to the recommended minimum engagement depth per holder manufacturer guidelines before torquing the collet nut or set screw. Verify runout with a dial indicator after tool installation and before initiating a cut program to prevent premature tool wear or workpiece damage.
