The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 83293 is a 4-flute solid carbide ball end mill designed for demanding milling operations in stainless steels, high-temperature alloys, and hardened materials. The tool carries a 3/8 inch diameter with a 0.1875 inch nose radius, a 1 inch length of cut, and a 3 inch overall length. A Tplus PVD coating protects the cutting edges against heat and wear generated in difficult-to-machine materials. The variable index geometry reduces harmonics during the cut, improving surface finish and tool life. Right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction are standard. This tool is single-end and centercutting, making it capable of plunge entries.
The 83293 is suited for profiling, contouring, and finishing passes in aerospace and precision machining environments where stainless steel and nickel-based superalloys are common workpiece materials. Secondary workpiece materials include carbon steel and cast iron. The HSV-4 series is built for shops running high spindle speeds and aggressive toolpaths on modern CNC machining centers. The straight cylindrical shank accepts standard ER and side-lock collet systems. No coolant-through capability is present, so flood or mist coolant applied externally is the standard approach.
The 83293 is designed for milling stainless steel, high-temperature alloys, hardened materials, carbon steel, and cast iron. Primary workpiece material codes are M, S, and H per ISO classification. It fits any spindle accepting a 3/8 inch straight cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance.
Installation is performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician. Secure the shank in a collet or end mill holder torqued to the toolholder manufacturer specification and verify runout does not exceed 0.0005 inches TIR before beginning production cuts. Confirm spindle speed, feed rate, and depth of cut are set per the tooling manufacturer recommendations for the specific workpiece material before engaging the cut. Use adequate external flood or mist coolant to manage heat, as this tool does not support coolant-through delivery.
