The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 83291 is a 4-flute solid carbide ball end mill designed for demanding material removal in stainless steels, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. It carries a Tplus PVD coating and features a variable index geometry that reduces chatter and improves surface finish in both roughing and finishing passes. The 3/8 inch cutting diameter pairs with a 1/2 inch length of cut and a 0.1875 inch nose radius. At 2 inches overall length with a straight-cylindrical 3/8 inch shank, this stub-length tool seats rigidly in standard end mill holders used on CNC machining centers.
This end mill is sized and coated for shops running stainless steel components, nickel-based superalloys, titanium, and hard workpiece materials where tool life and dimensional control are critical. The variable index flute spacing disrupts harmonic vibration, making it well suited for side milling, profiling, and finishing passes in difficult-to-machine alloys. Secondary workpiece suitability extends to general steel and cast iron, giving the tool flexibility across mixed job shop schedules. It is a single-end tool sold individually.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills equipped with standard 3/8 inch end mill holders or collet chucks. Primary workpiece materials are stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials (ISO codes M, S, H). Secondary workpiece materials include steel and cast iron (ISO codes P, K).
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank in a properly sized collet or end mill holder, verifying runout does not exceed the 0.0005 inch TIR maximum before cutting. Machine spindle must be fully stopped and locked before tool changes. Do not exceed the tool manufacturer's recommended feeds and speeds for the workpiece material and coating combination.
